Green Initiatives

The Town of Niverville is the 2014 recipient of the Innovation and Research for Sustainability award for the bioremediation of its sewage lagoon. It examined the feasibility of remediating biowastes through onsite treatment using wetlands, upland plants and bioremediation, while meeting provincial environmental standards. Niverville hopes to set a standard for other municipalities to construct and decommission their sewage lagoons, helping them to remain environmentally friendly and sustainable.
