Supplemental Residential Waste Collection

A request was brought forward from a resident for options for managing extra waste for hosting events, council considered several options in this situation as well as options for a long-term solution for additional waste collection. The following options are now available to residents:

Option 1: A resident may pay the fees for an additional waste bin, which includes a one-time non-refundable fee for the bin of $100.00, plus an annual non-refundable fee of $200.00 for collection, pro-rated in the first year from start date to December 31 and to be reviewed annually with the waste collection Bylaw 681-10.

Option 2: Make arrangements three days in advance of collection day for pick-up of an extra bag of waste by way of a sticker purchased from the Town Administration Office for a fee of $12.00 per sticker.

Note all waste bins remain the property of the Town of Niverville and collection of waste will be as per the Town's Waste Management By-law 759-16.

Waste Transfer Site

In the last year there have been media news clips regarding the possible closure for direct hauling by Niverville residents of household waste to the Ritchot (Mid Canada) waste collection site. This service managed by a private corporation, has been deemed to be unprofitable and as such effective January 1, 2015, it will no longer be offered.

Niverville Council recognizes that there may be occasions when residents have additional household waste that they would like to personally remove. To meet this need a waste transfer site will be opened. Bristal Hauling, located approximately one kilometer north on Sixth Avenue North has agreed to provide the service. The waste transfer site will be open each Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Fees for dumping are as follows:

Maximum of 5 bags - in vehicle or 1/2 ton truck $10
More than 5 bags of material - in vehicle or 1/2 ton truck $25
Utility trailer under 200 cubic feet $25
Level one ton truck $70
Appliance with ballast / capacitor / refrigerant present $35
Appliance without ballast / capacitor / refrigerant No Charge
Batteries No Charge
Tires No Charge
Tires W/Rim $15 per tire

For renovation projects Bristal Hauling has 6 yard rental bins at a special rental rate for Niverville residents of $150 per unit based on a three day turnaround.

Depending on the demand for a waste transfer site, Bristal Hauling will be considering installing scales so as to be able to charge based on weight. Niverville Council will be monitoring demand for the service.
