Town Continues to Work to Ensure Economical, Sustainable, and Vibrant Future for Community

Over the course of two days this past weekend, Town Council met and engaged with staff and various delegations and stakeholders from the community. Out of this, Town Council is excited to see where new investments will be made into the community in 2025 and beyond.

Council took the time to revisit what the Town accomplished in 2024 with some significant highlights being:

  • Rebuilding of 4th Avenue South
  • Completion of the construction of the RCMP Detachment Office
  • Delivery of a new Water Tanker for the Fire Department

Seeing the significant accomplishments of 2024, Council then spent hours listening, engaging and debating the proposals and actions and have decided to invest the following into the community in 2025:

  • New Fire Hall and Operation Shop: The Town is excitedly looking forward to the completion of the detailed design of a new Fire Hall and Operations Shop, with a plan to complete the construction of both by 2027. With a target project budget of between $4 to $5 million, Council’s goal is for the complete self-funding of the project.
  • “Take One, Leave One” Library: The Town is looking forward to the opening of Niverville’s first “Take One, Leave One” library space, which will be staffed by a core volunteer base. It will provide a space for the community to gather and give access to computers for those who may not have them.
  • RSR Wastewater Treatment Facility: Breaking ground is planned to occur in 2025 and will contribute to Niverville’s vibrant and continued growth, bring new jobs to the community, and expand services by dealing with wastewater for decades to come.

  • Parks & Splash Pad: The town plans to complete Station Park and Opa’s parks in 2025. In addition, the Town is investing $50,000 in updates to the equipment at the Splash Pad to reduce downtime and reinvest in this important community asset. The Town will also be undertaking a design to add an RV park into Hespeler Park.
  • Centennial Arena: In 2025 the Town plans to revitalize the community experience by updating the west sideboards, penalty boxes and player benches. In addition, the community can look forward to a new Zamboni in the Centennial Arena.
  • Open Health: NHCSI & the Town are partnering to expand the footprint of the clinic by opening up an additional four (4) doctor rooms in 2025. This investment is in part due to the expansion of the clinic which now is home to thirteen doctors – with plans to add more in 2025.

The Town is able to accomplish these projects and goals with a modest four percent tax increase for 2025. Council weighed the need to keep up with infrastructure investments and renewal, the need for additional services, and the ability of the community to pay in making this decision.

Town Council is looking forward to celebrating with our partners in 2025, whether it be the Grand Opening of Jette Studios early in the new year, the Niverville Chamber of Commerce continuing with Pizza Wars in 2025 or welcoming all the many visitors to the community in March for the CCAA Men’s National Volleyball Championship in conjunction with Providence College.

The Town is looking forward to seeing the momentum continue in the community and the work of residents, business owners, investors and even visitors leading Niverville into the evolution to being Manitoba’s next city, while still ensuring we retain the small-town community we all call home.
