In recent weeks, it has been brought to the Town’s attention that certain residents have been placing grass clippings and other non-recyclable materials in their recycling carts. While grass clippings are compostable, they are not acceptable materials for inclusion in the recycling cart.
Did you know that when non-recyclable materials end up in the recycling truck, the entire load of recycling is contaminated? The recycling depot refuses to accept any loads that contain non-recyclable materials and the truck is then diverted to the dump; none of the items included in the load will be recycled.
Residents are asked to ensure that only acceptable recyclable materials are placed in their recycling cart. Visit https://www.whereyoubelong.ca/town-administration/town-services/garbage-recycling for more information on acceptable items for recycling and alternate disposal options.
Thank you for doing your part to make Niverville more environmentally friendly!
