June may have been the last month before Council’s summer schedule took effect, but that didn’t stop exciting things from happening at Council.
Some highlights from this month include:
- Council awarded the contract for detailed designs for the Town’s Sewer Main Replacement to Associated Engineering (Sask.) in the amount of $33,050 plus GST.
- Council held public hearings for, and approved, three (3) different conditional use applications.
- Council gave first reading to a bylaw to rezone 233 3rd Street South (Word of Life Mission Church, Son City, and the adjoining parking lot) to “EI” (Educational and Institutional).
- The public hearing for this rezoning will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at the Niverville CRRC.

June 2nd Council Meeting
- Council approved updates to the advertising rates in Schedule “G” – Recreation Services of Bylaw 872-24 (Fees & Charges)
- Council approved payment of $372,318.67 in cheques and electronic fund transfers.
- Council approved the April 30, 2026 Financial Statement as presented.
- Council gave third reading to and passed Bylaw No. 892-26, which is a bylaw for the purpose of licensing food trucks.
- Council awarded the contract for engineering services to provide the detailed designs for the Town’s sewer main replacement along Main Street to Associated Engineering (Sask.) Ltd., in the amount of $33,050 plus GST.
June 9th Special Council Meeting
- Council formally requested the Minister of Municipal and Northern Relations’ written approval to transfer the money required for the new Fire Hall and Operations Shop project from the Town’s General Reserve Fund for the current fiscal year.
- Approval from the Minister is required by the Municipal Act because the transfer amount exceeds the maximum allowed without approval.
- Council also authorized the Chief Administrative Officer or their designate to submit any required application to the Minister for future fiscal years, if approval is necessary.
June 16th Council Meeting
- Council held a public hearing for, and approved, Conditional Use C13-26, to allow for a home-based automotive detailing business to continue to operate at 73 Claremont Drive, subject to the following conditions:
- That the applicant provide on-site parking for clients
- That the applicant obtain an annual Business License from the Town
- That the applicant comply with all standards for home-based businesses as noted in the Town’s Zoning Bylaw.
- Council held a public hearing for, and approved, Conditional Use C14-26, to allow for signage advertising the Niverville Farmer’s Market to be added to an existing sign at the corner of Arena Road and Main Street.
- Council held a public hearing for, and approved, Conditional Use C15-26, which allows for a retail store specializing in agricultural and rural products, including livestock feed, poultry supplies, animal bedding, and associated merchandise at Unit 10 of 735 Schultz Avenue in the Niverville Business Park. This was approved on the condition that the property ower submit an updated parking plan demonstrating to the satisfaction of the Town that the property can accommodate this retail use prior to the use being established.
- Council appointed Councillor Meghan Beasant as the Town’s Protective Committee Chairperson
- Council approved updates to the Town’s Employee Handbook, to take effect on July 1st, 2026.
- Council approved payment of $665,854.81 in cheques and electronic fund transfers.
- Council approved the May 31st, 2026 Financial Statement as presented.
- Council gave first reading to Bylaw No. 893-26, a bylaw to rezone the 233 3rd Street South (Word of Life Mission Church, Son City, and the adjoining parking lot) from “RLD” (Residential Low Density) to “EI” (Educational and Institutional).
- The public hearing for this rezoning will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at the Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre, 501 Centre Street, Niverville, MB.
